About Wellingborough School (e1595)

http://www.wellingboroughschool.org/

Founded in 1595 – Yes that is 175 years before Captain Cook discovered Australia. It is one of the oldest schools in the country.

It is located in the East Midlands in the County of Northamptonshire about 1 1/2 hours (100km) north of London.

The school is an independent Co-educational school which is divided into three divisions: Pre-Prep, Prep and Senior and Sixth Form for kids aged 3 to 18 years of age

You may find interesting that the school has it’s own Combined Cadet Force (CCF) consisting of Army, Navy, RAF and Royal Marines. The CCF is compulsory for all Year 9 and 10 students – which is why they have a Rifle Range.

During World War 1 over 1000 old boys saw action and 181 were killed during battle. In WW2 another 95 Old Boys were killed in action.
