The Bowral u13a were well represent over the weekend at the NSW country >championships in Armidale for the illawarra u12 side.
The boys played some great rugby over the 2 days. Our boys went into camp on Friday afternoon, after flying up together and making the car trip from Tamworth. The first game was a good hit out for the team and a easy win over Far north coast 26-7, the Bowral boys had plenty of game time and played well
Next game was against Central Coast 26-14. All the boys had a good run and started to settle in with the other players.
Final game of the day was vs Central North, and by far the toughest game after playing 2 games the boys were flat, but guts out the win 21-19 with a try 2 minutes out to seal the win.
Semi final was played at 8:30am against Hunter who came out flying. Not much game time for the Bowral boys and in the end it was a run away try to us for the win. Final score Illawarra 21-14
GF was at 12:40 and the 2 best teams were in the final, central West who dominated their pool with 3 big forwards, playing against us who’s backs and forwards dominated our pool, it was a great start for us with a try 2 minutes in, then the arm wrestle Started 4 try’s to us and 2them to Be 24-12 at 1/2 time. They started the second 1/2 and scored 2 quick ones to be level at 24. With 10 minutes to go and both teams having a few injuries our boys had a chance to play in the biggest game to date in their career and not one of them looked out of place and they all put their bodies on the line and with 4 minutes to go 2 trys from Tyrell the player of the championship from Campbelltown was the difference and the boys were part of the championship team.
The boys were great ambassadors of the Bowral club, and they were supported by their dads Greg Samsa, Rod Cunnigham, Mark Feetham, and Brad Gipson. The u12 now will play in Camden on the long weekend in the NSW State Championships.
