Colts Match Report 17th May 2014 – Brendan “Zip” Fannin.
One week a rooster – next week a feather duster!
After starting the season 2 from 2, our bubble was certainly burst against Vikings.
It was a very different Vikings side than the one we played two weeks ago, but still there was no cause for concern.
It was the little things that made a big difference – Jersey grabbing, poor ball carries, etc.
Of the 5 tries Vikings scored, 4 came from our errors.
On the flip side, we dropped the ball over the try line – adjacent to the posts. On another occasion, Brody just failed to gather the ball in when attempting an intercept – if he caught it, we score.
That’s 14 points we left on the field!
If we limit our errors and take our opportunities, then the scoreboard would look after itself, and would be a very different result.
Both our tries were scored by Tim Lewis after very some very powerful runs.
It was disappointing that we didn’t get the points on Saturday, but after this performance we were still in the game until the last few minutes when 2 Vikings tries gave them a buffer.
Lads, we can make our presence felt in this competition – but, we just need to tighten up the core areas.
Final score: Bowral 12 – Vikings 31
