Country Focuses on Bowral

Bowral will be the focus point of Country Rugby this weekend with the staging of the NRMA NSW Country Rugby Union Championships.

Eridge Park home of the Bowral Rugby Club will host the championships which will see ten senior teams, eight colts teams and over four hundred and fifty players from around the state contest the various championship divisions.

Central West who are the defending champions in both the Seniors and Colts will have their work cut out to retain their titles, as each of the other zones have had solid preparations and have the Blue Bulls firmly in their sights.

Another incentive for the players is the championships will be the final opportunity to impress for selection in the NRMA NSW Country Cockatoos and Cockatoo Colts representative squads for the 2015 season.

Senior and colts divisions will see the teams ranked based on last year’s standings, which will see the seniors compete for the Caldwell Cup (Tier 1) and Richardson Shield (Tier 2), while the colts will compete for the Rowlands Colts Cup (Tier 1) and NRMA Colts Shield (Tier 2).

Once again BARTV will be covering the championships, but due to poor internet coverage the four championship finals will be delayed telecasts on YouTube on Monday, 4 May 2015:

NRMA Colts Shield Final 6pm

Richardson Shield Final 6pm

Rowland Colts Cup Final 8pm

Caldwell Cup Final 8pm

Championship draws, match times and field allocations are available on the NSWCRU webpage
