Lewis Holland, a key member of the Australian Olympic Rugby 7s team, will be attending the Southern Highlands Rugby 7’s tournament on October 1, 2016 at Eridge Park, Bowral.
Lewis represents Australia in 7s rugby which triumphantly returned to the Olympic arena at the 2016 Rio Olympics.
His representative honours include Australian Schoolboys (2010), Australian under 20s (2012), and the Rugby World Cup in 2013, where he scored a try.
Born in Queanbeyan, Lewis played for the Queanbeyan Whites at club level before his debut for Australia in February 2011.
Lewis played Australian Schoolboys alongside current 7s team mate Tom Cusack and in 2012 the pair reunited in the IRB Junior World Championship.
Bowral Blacks Rugby Club President Mark Freund said, “Bowral Blacks are thrilled to welcome Lewis Holland to the Southern Highlands 7s tournament on Saturday.”
“With its recent return to the Olympics, Rugby 7’s is now one of the fastest growing sports in the world. In particular the Australian Women’s team gold medal at Rio is inspiring girls and women across the country to take up rugby 7s, and this is being seen at the Southern Highlands 7s where women’s and girl’s entries have almost doubled to 26 teams.”
“The Southern Highlands 7s is one of the few tournaments in Australia catering for youth teams, both boys and girls. Bowral Blacks continue to invest in our youth which we know is important for the long-term development of sport in the region.”
Food and beverage outlets will be available for spectators and supporters to purchase refreshments, as well as Southern Highlands 7s merchandise.
