The Bowral Blacks’ two senior teams had their first big hit out against Shoalhaven recently. Bowral’s second grade side secured a 5-all draw and first grade lost by two tries in a close match.
Blacks head coach Paul Frean said he was very pleased with the form of the Bowral players. “It was really pleasing to see the forwards being dominant in taking three tight heads and the scrambling defence of the whole team was of a high standard,” he said. “The Blacks have shown massive improvements in the strength and fitness of the forwards and the defensive ability of the backs. There is more depth in the club with a number of new players joining the club.”
